PLANNING THE ROUTE
Plan your mountain trip carefully. Consider your abilities and adjust the length of the route accordingly. Never go into the mountains alone. It’s best to join a hiking club or society, or perhaps your local area has a youth section. This way, you can explore the mountains with a guide and gain the necessary experience and knowledge. When planning, check information on the pzs.si website and use a good hiking map to assist you.
WEATHER
Before heading to the mountains, check the weather forecast for the mountain region. Weather in the mountains can change rapidly and can be dangerous.
EQUIPMENT
Don't forget your hiking boots that cover your ankles, sportswear in layers, an appropriately sized backpack, and inside it, pack extra clothing, snacks, drinks (water), sunscreen and sunglasses, a hat, gloves, and an umbrella.
STARTING POINT
Vehicles may only be parked in designated parking spaces. During the summer months, you can reach the trailheads by public transport. Explore the park without a car.
HIKING
Walk along the marked paths at a steady pace. Don't start too fast, as there's a long journey ahead. Use a hiking map and follow the trail markers. Walking off the path can be dangerous, and it also damages the habitat of plants and animals.
REST
Resting in the mountain tranquility with a beautiful view is one of the most wonderful experiences. After a snack, always clean up your trash and take it down to the valley. In our mountains, you can spend the night in mountain huts, which are well-maintained and offer warm meals. Camping is not allowed. In summer, when there are many visitors, it is recommended to book your accommodation in advance. If you're a member of the PZS, you are entitled to certain benefits when staying in mountain huts.
MEMORIES
Take nothing from nature; keep your memories in photos and videos.
112
In case of an accident or other issues, call the emergency notification center.
DOGS
If you're in the mountains with your four-legged friend, make sure they don't get thirsty. Keep your dog on a leash at all times.
