The legend of the origin of the Martuljek Stream
The giant Ledenec
In the mountain cave above Martuljek, there once lived the giant Ledenec.
He terrorized everyone around him, exhaling an icy breath and shouting with joy whenever it snowed. The only things he feared were the sun and fire.
One day, he wished to have a large mountain next to his cave. He called all the giants under his command and ordered them to build the mountain. The work was hard, and the giants grew tired of carrying the stones, but Ledenec kept urging them on harshly.
One day, while he was sleeping in his cave, they piled dry brush in front of it and set it on fire. Ledenec suffocated in the smoke inside the cave and began to melt. To this day, the Martuljek stream flows from beneath the Martuljek mountains.
