Welcome autumn

Welcome autumn

And we've now reached it... autumn! There's nothing more beautiful than when the forest turns a thousand colours.

The painter took a paintbrush and paints,

and she painted all around,

the leaves with yellow, orange and red,

and now she paints the field and the log with brown.

Do you know why the leaves of trees change colour?

When the green pigment called chlorophyll begins to break down, yellow, orange, and red pigments, which are present in the leaves all along but masked by the dominant chlorophyll during the summer, become visible.

On the first day of autumn, September 22, day and night are of equal length, a phenomenon known as the autumn equinox.

But it's not just plants that change, some animals change their clothes too.

The simple, grey-brown and short hair of the chamois starts to get thicker, longer and darker every day. A good month more and the slender summer bodies will be clothed in thick black fur that will easily protect them from the coming winter.
