For young visitors of the mountains

A Selection of Mountaineering Topics for Young People

MOUNTAINS are majestic, beautiful, peaceful, breathtaking, full of surprises, adventures, challenges, and mysteries; however, if rules are ignored, they can also be dangerous.

Why do we go to the mountains?

In the mountains, we find peace, breathe fresh air, relax, clear our minds, overcome challenges, and admire nature. For everyone who has embarked on a mountain hike, the mountains have provided memories of breathtaking beauty, experiences, and likely some lessons learned.

Of course, reaching the summit feels incredible, but we must also know when to turn back if the weather or other difficulties make it impossible to continue. Nature offers beautiful experiences throughout the journey, so let’s keep our eyes and ears open to discover the hidden treasures in the mountains—colorful flowers, butterflies, birds, hidden newt, and much more. We can appreciate these wonders, but we must not disturb or take them with us.

We know that we must prepare for a visit to the mountains and follow certain rules of conduct or etiquette. When we are in the mountains, we are merely visitors, so we should behave accordingly. There is no place for noise, littering, or other mess, nor should we take space for our own pleasures or selfish goals. The mountains will give us much in return if we enter respectfully and considerately toward other visitors and all the creatures that call the mountains home.

Rules for visiting the mountains: Stick to marked trails, do not leave litter, greet others and offer friendly help, take nothing from nature, avoid making noise, do not camp outside designated areas.
