World Wildlife Day

World Wildlife Day

March 3rd

Life is something extraordinary, and so far, researchers have not found conclusive evidence that it exists elsewhere in our nearby universe.

At the end of 2013, the United Nations General Assembly declared March 3rd as World Wildlife Day, a celebration of the wild, diverse, unique, and wonderful creatures that inhabit our planet

As rational beings, we are responsible for the lives of all other species on Earth. We are a part of nature, which provides us with everything essential for life—air, water, food, and living space.

This year's World Wildlife Day theme is "Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration."

According to the Red List of Threatened Species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), which is categorized into several groups, over 8,400 species of wild animals and plants are critically endangered, and nearly 30,000 are endangered. Based on these estimates, more than one million species are at risk of extinction.

Further loss of species, habitats, and ecosystems threatens all life on Earth, including us.

People around the world are dependent on wildlife and resources based on biodiversity. Millions of people rely on nature for survival and economic opportunities.

How well do you know the wildlife species in our area?
